Closing Celebration Prayer

Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.

Let us pray:

I.

God, we pray for love in a world full of hate. For hardened hearts to be graced by Your presence
That the heart of stone may be replaced with a heart of flesh

We pray for grandparents to love their grandchildren, parents to love their children, and children to love their siblings
That hatred may not hurt or consume them

We pray for refugees and immigrants
That every community may welcome the stranger

We pray for employers to treat their employees with dignity and respect
That they may find joy in their work

II.

Father, we pray for all those who suffer.

For children in a world of conflict and misdirection
That they may find peace and a sure path in you

Give understanding to those struggling to belong in a foreign place, for those in confusion in a land where the language is not their own
That they may find a place of comfort

We pray for the disabled and for all those neglected and cast aside
That there may be an outpouring of love and care

We pray for girls and young women confronted with decisions in an unfriendly setting
That they may find strength and courage to carry through life

Have compassion on the cold, the hungry, the homeless, and all those who suffer grief and trouble
That they may be delivered from their distress

III. Gracious Lord, we pray for community in a world that is broken. For the lonely,
That they may find friendship

For damaged relationships
That there would be healing and restoration

For cultural rifts between the people in our community
That we may find beauty and appreciation in each other

IV.

Creator, we pray for the good life.

For farmers,
That their farms may be fruitful

For artists,
That they may give the imagination space to play

For scientists,
That they may uncover the laws of creation in the mystery of the universe

For politicians,
That they may let justice roll down like waters

For teachers,
That they may educate the whole person for the glory of their Maker

We will sing of your love and justice, to you O LORD we will sing praise

In love, in suffering, in our community, and as we seek to live a good life,
let us strive to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with You.

Amen.
