As a Christian liberal arts college, Gordon believes that it has a responsibility to protect and preserve the natural world through stewardship and environmental care, both locally and internationally. The campus's rich natural environment, comprising many acres of protected wetlands, serves as an excellent training ground for students interested in sustainability and environmental protection. See the links below for more information on Gordon's various environmental projects and initiatives.

Advocates for a Sustainable Future (ASF)
ASF is a group that involves student leaders directly in environmental efforts and promotes awareness and knowledgeable lifestyle choices.

Green Chemistry
Gordon's Chemistry department is committed to green chemistry--chemistry that is intentionally safer for human health and the environment. The department is in the vangaurd of the green chemistry movement, engaging in education and outreach activities that bring the principles of green chemistry to students, faculty and the general public in New England and beyond.
Restore Creation
Gordon's Restore Creation program is spearheaded by Physical Plant and focuses on recycling and energy conservation, not only preventing pollution and energy waste, but saving the College thousands of dollars per year.

Sustainable Tropical Agriculture Program
Gordon's partnership with ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) allows students to travel to ECHO headquarters in Florida and then on to Honduras to learn first-hand about the human and environmental issues involved in making agriculture sustainable in developing countries.
