About:

Scott Thurman, born in Lubbock, TX, earned his M.F.A. in Documentary Film from the University of North Texas. He worked as a news photographer for 4 years and produced 3 short films while at the University of North Texas, including "Smokey," a short documentary about an Elvis impersonator, which was selected by film festivals such as AFI Dallas, L.A. Film Festival, Hot Springs Doc Festival, and Austin Film Festival.

His recent documentary The Revisionaries won the 2014 duPont Award, which recognizes excellence in broadcast and digital journalism in public service. It also competed in the University Film & Video Assoc. conference in Montana in August 2014.

Scott teaches a range of courses for the Communication Arts department, including Visual Storytelling, Introduction to Production, Cinematography, Documentary Production, and History of the Documentary.
