Scott has been hiking and camping all his life. He grew up roaming the bush as a missionary kid in Kenya, hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim with his family, climbing 14'ers in Colorado, and at camp at Deerfoot Lodge in the Adirondacks. At Wheaton, Scott was a Christian Education major focusing on residential camp as well as wilderness ministry. Scott went on to lead wilderness trips and train staff at Wheaton's HoneyRock Camp for several summers before eventually coordinating the Masters program in Leadership and Camp Ministry.
One of Scott's passions and the focus of his research is how to use outdoor experiential education to facilitate spiritual growth. He loves to travel and help outdoor ministries contextualize their programs to meet the needs of their community and culture.
