Scholars and Fellows Programs

Are you an exceptional student committed to top-level scholarship? An urban leader eager to impact your community? Or a budding entrepreneur, justice advocate or ministry leader? You may qualify for one of our three Scholars and Fellows leadership programs. These experiential opportunities allow you to tailor your Gordon experience to reach your unique goals. Be sure to complete your Admissions application by December 15, 2015. If you qualify for any of these programs, our Admissions team will invite you to schedule an interview to be considered.

A. J. Gordon Scholars

Key Features: Honors Seminar, personalized advising, small group learning experiences, field experiences, study abroad opportunities, annual retreat, option to apply to other honors programs

Program Length: 4 years

Criteria: Evidence of exceptional academic gifts, unique talents, and strengths

Scholarship Award: Leadership stipend: $2,500/year ($10,000 over 4 years)
Founder’s Scholarship: $15,000–$16,000/year ($60,000 to $64,000 over 4 years)
The Founder’s Scholarship is Gordon College’s top merit-based scholarship.

Number of students selected: 15

Visit Day: Honors & Leadership Day, December 4, 2015. Participation is recommended, but students unable to attend can be considered.

Required Interview: Qualified students will be contacted to schedule a phone interview.

Notification Date: February 15

Clarendon Scholars

Key Features: Mentoring relationships, leadership training, peer support, leadership positions on campus

Program Length: 4 years

Criteria: Residence in an urban area; aptitude for scholarship; a demonstrated heart for service through leadership in church, community and school and a desire to go back and serve in an urban environment

Scholarship Award: Full tuition for 4 years

Number of students selected: 10

Visit Day: Clarendon Scholars Day, February 22, 2016 (Invitations to attend are mailed in January.)

Required Interview: Interviews take place on Clarendon Scholars Day and are automatically scheduled as participants register.

Notification Date: March 15

Fellows Programs

Richard F. Gross Fellows for Urban Leadership
Nathan R. Wood Fellows for Ministry and Missions
Forrester Venture Fellows

Program Length: 1 year

Criteria: Leadership experience in school, church or community; a desire to explore one’s passion for the relevant topic

Scholarship Award: All Fellows Program-related expenses (field trips, spring break travel, company visits, guest speakers, et al.)

Number of students selected: 16

Visit Day: Fellows Consideration Day, February 29, 2016 (Invitations to attend are mailed in January.)

Required Interview: Qualified students will be contacted to schedule a phone interview.

Notification Date: March 15
