The Salzburg Institute of Gordon College connects two of the most culturally rich cities on both sides of the Atlantic: Salzburg and Boston. The Institute organizes annual academic symposia at Gordon College in Wenham, MA and in Salzburg, Austria. Between July and August, the Institute’s Summer School is held exclusively in the city of Salzburg. From September to May, the events of the Institute are hosted by Gordon College located on the North Shore of Boston and the historic Park Street Church in downtown Boston.
Over the final week of the Summer School in Salzburg, music performance students will have the opportunity to give recitals in many of Salzburg’s historical churches and in other venues within the city. Salzburg Institute Art students will be able to showcase their completed works at the Fortress Hohensalzburg Salzburg, Salzburg’s premier landmark. Throughout the academic year from September to May, Gordon College and Boston’s historic Park Street Church located centrally in downtown Boston are the sites for the Salzburg Institute’s art displays and concerts and for the Salzburg Institute’s Lecture Series.
Professor Stan Ford, professor of piano at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and the Salzburg Institute’s artist-in-residence, offers annual master classes in piano at the Phillips Music Center located on the Gordon College campus. Musical performances for the greater Boston area including Gordon College’s local community are held on campus at Philips Recital Hall and the A. J. Gordon Chapel.
