Andrew Kang '17

Office of the President

Andrew Kang is a senior double major in economics and history. He grew up in Wheaton, Illinois before moving to the North Shore of Massachusetts in 2005. Before coming to Gordon College, Andrew participated in Compass, a leadership development program sponsored by Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary that brings together student leaders from all over the country. Aside from being a committed student during his time at Gordon, Andrew has been heavily involved in worship ministries on campus, currently serving as a co-leader in the Morning Chapel Band. He has also pursued his passion of worship leading outside of Gordon, recently being a worship leader at First Presbyterian Church, North Shore in Ipswich. The previous two summers, Andrew served as a Worship and Technical Arts Intern at Willow Creek Community Church in the Chicago area, planning services, arranging music, running rehearsals, stage managing and playing in the worship team. Andrew also has a passion for learning about what God is doing around the world and has participated in missions trips to Swaziland, Nicaragua, and San Diego. In his free time, Andrew enjoys playing soccer, writing and recording music, and spending time with friends. After graduating, Andrew hopes to pursue a full-time worship ministry position and to live a Christ-centered life.

Dorothy Chung '18

Dorothy Chung is a junior A. J. Gordon Fellow with a double major in accounting and music performance. Born and raised in Taiwan, she moved to the U.S. with her family at age twelve when her father chose to pursue ministry and further his theological studies at Gordon-Conwell. Having a deep passion for the international community on campus, Dorothy currently serves as Assistant Director of the International Student Organization (ISO). While at Gordon, she has received Presidential Honors and served in various capacities. Specifically, she has served as Concertmaster of the Gordon Symphony Orchestra, a Teaching Assistant in the Economics and Business Department, a violinist on the Catacombs Worship Team, and a Student Ambassador on the Donor Stewardship Committee. Aside from her campus involvements, Dorothy has completed a few finance and accounting internships, both in the States and abroad. In the summer of 2015, she worked at the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, the premier English-language newspaper in Asia, as a Strategic Investments Intern. Most recently, she was a Tax Intern at Paul Marciano CPA, a local accounting firm in Beverly, MA, for the spring of 2016. In her free time, she keeps finding herself going back to music for relief and comfort. She loves playing the violin at weddings and gigs, singing, playing the piano, and jamming with her friends. Upon graduation, Dorothy intends to attend graduate school for either music performance or accounting, or perhaps even both. She aspires to become a CPA, and in the future, eventually have her own private violin teaching studio. But ultimately, she trusts that God will make use of the gifts He has given her, and she is patiently and excitedly awaiting God’s calling.

Farnel Maxime '17

Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff

Born in Boston and raised in Taunton, Massachusetts, Farnel is both Haitian and a first generation college student. Currently at Gordon, he is a senior Clarendon Scholar pursuing a double major in political science and philosophy. At Gordon, Farnel has been involved in a wide range of groups and student-oriented activities. He has worked for the Center for Technology Services as a Media Technician, the Center for Student Development as an Orientation Leader and Core Staffer, and the Alumni office as a Core Student Ambassador leading the Donor Stewardship Committee. He was a participant of the first class for Launch, a professional development seminar that provides training in skills like networking, professional etiquette, and negotiation tactics. Farnel has also been an active member of God’s Chosen Gospel Choir and ALANA. Additionally, in his junior year he led Gordon’s mission trip to Haiti, which he will lead again this upcoming winter. Farnel recently spent a semester studying in Washington, D.C. through the American Studies Program. There, he took public policy classes and interned for the Center for Public Justice, a Christian public policy organization. As a Clarendon Scholar, Farnel cares deeply about the city and hopes to work within a metropolitan area after his time at Gordon. He also plans to pursue a graduate degree.

Jack Ricci '17

Office of the Vice President for Student Life

Jack Ricci is a senior Clarendon Scholar from New York City pursuing a double major in sociology and biblical studies. He is a member of the 11th cohort of the Elijah Project, a program dedicated to the exploration of vocational discernment within a communal framework. His fervor for racial justice has compelled him to serve both as a Campus Events Coordinator for ALANA, an on-campus organization devoted to racial awareness and reconciliation, and on the Executive Planning Committee of the Redeemed Mosaic Conference 2016. He also believes in the power of relational leadership, compelling him to serve as a Teaching Assistant for both Old and New Testament courses and as a Resident Advisor. Upon graduation, Jack intends to use his passions and talents to reinvest in New York City. His eyes are currently on ministry, but he is open to whatever path leads him towards gospel-centered change for the renewal of the city, and through it, the world.   

Joshua Cochran '18

Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration

Joshua Cochran is a junior A.J. Gordon Scholar majoring in biology with a health professions concentration. Prior to attending Gordon College, Joshua graduated from Mansfield Christian School, where he served as president of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and as captain of the varsity soccer team. At Gordon, Joshua has received presidential honors each semester, worked as a teaching assistant for both the chemistry and biology departments, received all-CCC honors for his performance on the men’s soccer team, and has been a member of Gordon College Alzheimer's Buddies. Outside of Gordon, Joshua has served as a fellow at Beyond Benign, a non-profit organization in Wilmington, MA, helping lead Green Chemistry outreach events at the Boston Museum of Science, MIT, and other locations to teach children about sustainability and environmental protection. In the summer, Joshua has enjoyed splitting his time between working at Gordon College’s soccer camps for children and working as an intern clinical assistant at Featheringham Orthodontics near his home in Mansfield, Ohio. After Gordon, Joshua plans to attend dental school and pursue a career as a dentist, hoping to be a leader in whatever community he settles and to use his craft to do pro bono work, showing the love of God through meeting physical needs. 

Kristiina Boettiger '19

Office of the Vice President for Marketing and External Relations

Kristiina Boettiger is a sophomore pursuing a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She grew up in the Bavarian Alps of Germany and graduated from Werdenfels-Gymnasium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Kristiina is a dual citizen of Finland and the United States. She is quad-lingual (English, German, Finnish and French) and is proficient in Latin. Having grown up as a missionary’s daughter in Germany, Kristiina has always had a sense of compassion for people and a deep desire to share the Gospel with her peers. She enjoys the many cultures of Europe, but one of her favorite places is at the peaceful family lake home in Finland, surrounded by nature. Kristiina’s hobbies include singing, swimming, mountain biking, journaling and traveling. During her short time at Gordon, she has achieved Presidential Honors and has thoroughly enjoyed working in the Admissions Office. She is a member of the International Student Organization (ISO) where she loves to engage in worship with the ISO band. Outside of Gordon, Kristiina worked as an English and German tutor during her high school years in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. God has opened some significant doors for her into the field of medicine through shadowing opportunities at the Cleveland Clinic and a summer research position in the Department of Ophthalmology in the Chestnut Commons Cleveland Clinic in Elyria, OH. After graduation, Kristiina aspires to attend medical school to support her dream of opening a practice and of spending her free time serving on medical missions trips.

Rosie Drinkhouse '17

Rosie Drinkhouse is a senior political science and English Language and Literature double major from the St. Louis area. While studying at Gordon, she has received Dean’s list honors and is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Gordon’s chapter of the international English Honor Society. She is actively involved in campus activities as President of the Model United Nations Club, as a Teaching Assistant for Gordon’s first-year seminar, and as a member of the Mock Trial club. She is also the President and founder of Gordon's Political Discourse Club, a non-partisan group dedicated to cultivating discussion about the intersection of faith and politics. Rosie has represented Gordon at six Model UN conferences in four countries as an award-winning delegate. Rosie worked within Student Government as a Representative at Large during her sophomore year and as Vice President of Academic Affairs during her junior year. In those positions, she served as the student representative on the Academic Programs Committee and the Core committee, chaired the student Academic Affairs committee, contributed to academic policy, and worked to provide students with opportunities to form meaningful relationships with faculty members. This year, she is honored to serve as the Commencement Director through Gordon's student government. An avid traveler, Rosie has visited fifteen countries and lived in three. After graduating from Gordon in May of 2017, Rosie plans to pursue a career in law.

Sohenga Depestre '17

Sohenga C. Depestre is a senior Clarendon Scholar from Randolph, MA. She is pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in neuroscience and is the daughter of hard-working Haitian immigrants. Sohenga is passionate about serving her community and enjoys serving as a drummer for her church, Beraca Evangelical Baptist Church. Sohenga interned at New Life Counseling & Wellness Center (NLCWC), a counseling agency and community center in Randolph, in 2015. There, she helped create a local summer resource guide for children in Boston and the Greater Boston Area. The guide was used to connect families to free and affordable summer programs and food distribution sites. At Gordon, Sohenga has been involved with the Gospel Choir, International Justice Mission, ALANA, Service-Learning trips-to Haiti and Detroit, the Multicultural Initiatives Office, the Chapel Office and Residence Life. She has served two years as a Resident Advisor and is an Apartment Coordinator this year. Sohenga is a Peer Mentor for the first-year seminar The Great Conversation, and has assisted the Director of the Clarendon Scholars Program in training successor cohorts. In the summer of 2016, Sohenga was a camp counselor at Stoughton Extended Day in Stoughton, MA. She also continued her internship with NLCWC, volunteered at a faith-based couples' retreat, and contributed to Gordon’s Elevate program. Sohenga cares deeply about developing relationships and encouraging others to see themselves the way God sees them—beloved and worthy of compassion and grace—regardless of their circumstances or past history. She loves spending time with family, friends, and learning from mentors, as well as sports, music and trying a variety of foods. Sohenga is excited to learn from Provost Curry, her fellow cohort members, and the great opportunities and experiences she will surely encounter during her senior year at Gordon. After graduating, Sohenga hopes to attend graduate school to further her education and continue to explore her interests in neuro/socio-psychology and higher education.
