Following a 12-year career directing research and development efforts in the materials science industry (thermophysical properties of metastable materials, non-linear acoustics, novel functional inorganic materials, fuel cell and battery technology, metallic glasses, etc.), Dr. Lee accepted a calling to teach undergraduate physics—even as he maintains his research interests and activities in material science.

Dale Pleticha

Dale Pleticha (Retired 2017)

Professor of Physics

Dr. Pleticha serves as Research Report Editor for the Interdisciplinary Biblical Research Institute.  Interests include Physics Education Research, Mathematical Models for mechanical Systems, and Astronomy. His recent research interests involve computational studies of dark matter distribution in galaxies and simulations of gravitational lensing effects.

Stan Reczek

Stan Reczek

Assistant Professor of Physics

Early retirement from his position as Executive Vice President at the North Shore Medical Center allowed Professor Reczek to pursue a long-planned return to teaching physics. Professor Reczek specializes in physics education research and serves as our liaison with the Education department.

Jiin So

Lab Associate in Physics and Material Science
Lab Instructor

Professor So serves as the instructor for our Introductory Physics Labs. She is dedicated to helping students wrestle with the concepts and techniques that are so integral to becoming a physicist. As an undergraduate physics major, her research focused on time-resolved spectroscopic techniques for elemental analysis, including LIBS (Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy) and other optical spectroscopy techniques.

Oleksiy Svitelskiy

Oleksiy Svitelskiy

Associate Professor of Physics

A condensed matter physicist by training, Dr. Svitelskiy's research includes the propagation of acoustic waves through ferroelectric materials, as well as optical interferometry using NEMS sensors for mass spectrometry. He has also studied the elastic constant of materials in high magnetic fields and low temperatures.

Tout Wang

Assistant Professor

Dr. Wang's research is in the area of experimental atomic, molecular, and optical physics, in particular exploring the quantum behavior of the building blocks of matter at nano-Kelvin temperatures. He completed his dissertation work at the MIT-Harvard Center for Ultracold Atoms under the supervision of Nobel laureate Prof. Wolfgang Ketterle.
