Center for Student Leadership

"Helping students discover their leadership potential."

Our nation's future, along with the future of the church, is dependent on the leaders of tomorrow. It is paramount that these future leaders be given opportunities to develop basic leadership skills and have adults surrounding them who are equipped to encourage their growth.

The Center for Student Leadership seeks to make a difference across New England. The focus of the ministry is on students, their families and those who work with them in churches, schools, athletic programs, etc.

There are boundless opportunities for students to be impacted and stretched to grow. Our society needs the next generation of leaders to step forward. The Center for Student Leadership assists these future leaders by working in Community, Family and Student Ministries.

At work in the community
Students today live in a world where they find few ways in which to make a difference. As a result, they find themselves forced to be spectators in an adult world. Students have tremendous leadership potential and are an untapped resource in the community. The CSL seeks to impact both the students who will be tomorrow's leaders as well as the adults who are a part of their everyday world today. Among the avenues we use to make a difference in the lives of students and adults are:

  • Challenge Sessions
  • Student Leadership Challenge Weekends
  • Community to community work in the third world
  • Providing schools with student leadership workshops and programming.

At work in the family
We live today in a world in which the family unit is undergoing constant change and pressure. The result is parents who need encouragement and training so that they might be able to find their own leadership potential. It is the goal of the CSL to provide parents with the tools they need to be the most effective parents they can be. The center also provides some unique family experiential opportunities to further strengthen the family and ultimately the leaders of tomorrow, the children.
Among the venues offered:

  • Parental education seminars
  • "Understanding Your Kid's World. . . .Things They Didn't Teach You in Childbirth Class"
    • Olney, MD - October 17-18, 2003
  • Specialized focus workshops and events
  • Family centered mission trips

At work in student ministries
There are so many churches in New England which are struggling with all that it means to be reborn in Christ and are in need of understanding how to impact the lives of the students in their congregations. The CSL helps bring this understanding and offer opportunities for churches to work together for the mutual benefit of their students.
Among the opportunities offered:

  • Consulting in student ministry development
  • Strategic planning and ministry model development
  • Volunteer staff training
  • Inter-church staff mentoring
  • Leadership retreat weekends
  • Single/Multi-church mission trips
