About The Director

Daniel Russ is the Director of the Center for Christian Studies at Gordon College where he also serves on the faculty. From 2002-2003 he was the Executive Director of Christians in the Visual Arts, an international arts organization that is housed at Gordon. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Evansville, a M.A. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, a M.A. in English from the University of Dallas, and a Ph.D. in Literature and Psychology from the University of Dallas.

Dr. Russ was Headmaster of Trinity Christian Academy, a K-12 college preparatory school in Dallas, Texas from 1994-2002. He is a fellow of the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, where he served as Managing Director and faculty member for five years. There he founded Studies in Leadership, a program that affords business, professional, and civic leaders the opportunity to revision their leadership in light of the wisdom of the classics. He also serves as a Senior Fellow, moderator, and academic consultant for the Trinity Forum, a Christian university without walls for business, civic, and professional leaders. He wrote and edited a curriculum for the Trinity Forum entitled Children of Prometheus: Technology and the Good Life and serves as Editor of Provocations: an Online Journal of The Trinity Forum (ttf.org/provocations).

Dr. Russ has contributed to a number of books on classics, biblical studies, and cultural leadership, including The Terrain of Comedy The Epic Cosmos, Classic Texts and the Nature of Authority, The Tragic Abyss, An Invitation to the Classics, and he co-authored an essay on "The Moral Imagination" published in Christianity and the Soul of the University. His book Flesh-and-Blood Jesus: Learning to be Fully Human from the Son of Man was published by the Baker Publishing Group in July of 2008. His essay on the Psalms will appear in a forthcoming book on the lyric.

Dan and his wife, Kathy, have four grown children and live in Danvers, Massachusetts.
