Interviews

Interviewing can be an unnerving experience. Preparing yourself for the unknowns can help to cut down on anxiety and to allow the real you to come out. The following is a brief guide to get you started on preparing for an interview, but additional preparation by the way of practice is recommended.

There are several types of interviews. Some common ones are:

  • Informational Interviewing: An informational interview is a meeting with a person currently working in a career you would like to learn more about. The purpose of this meeting is for gathering advice and information.
  • Job Interviewing: A job interview is offered when an employer is interested in getting to know an applicant better to determine whether or not the applicant will be a good fit for the position.
  • Graduate School Interviewing: A graduate school interview takes place when a school is interested in determining if an applicant is a good fit for the school and vice versa.

There are different things to consider for each type of interview such as appropriate dress, questions to ask or prepare for, etc.
