Employee Benefits

Gordon College offers an excellent array of comprehensive benefits designed to meet the needs of fulltime faculty and staff and their families. Eligibility may vary according to hours worked. Benefits are generally effective on the first day of the month following date of hire.

Medical and Dental Insurance with BCBS
Comprehensive medical and dental insurance for employees and families is provided through Blue Cross and Blue Shield's HMO Blue New England and Dental Blue products. The College pays 80% of the medical insurance premium, and 50% of the dental premium.

Life and Disability Insurance
Gordon pays the premium for basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Supplemental, employee-paid life and disability insurance are also available at reasonable rates.

Retirement Plan with TIAA-CREF
All employees who work at least 1000 hours per year may participate in Gordon's retirement plan (participation is required at age 35). As a contributory plan, the employee contribution of 5% of salary is supplemented by a College contribution of 5% of salary. All contributions are immediately vested. A Tax Deferred Retirement Plan is also available for additional employee savings.

Medical and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to set up an account of pre-tax funds to pay for out-of-pocket medical, dental, and dependent care costs.

Retiree Health Plan with Emeriti
The Emeriti Retiree Health Plan provides post-retirement health insurance options, plus a tax-advantaged savings vehicle for future medical expenses. Gordon College contributes to the savings plan for all fulltime employees over the age of 39.

Tuition Benefits
Employees may take undergraduate courses on campus tuition-free. Tuition will be discounted for spouses and dependent children on a sliding scale based on years of service. Depending on years of service and position grade, staff employees are eligible for 10 to 25 days of vacation each year. In addition, employees may use up to 10 days of sick leave, and 3 personal days each year. The College observes 12 paid holidays a year.
