Vision
Under the auspices of the Global Education Office (GEO), and in concert with other programs in the Americas, Gordon College seeks to bring a unified academic framework and context to efforts of engaging students in a broad and substantive understanding of common themes related to urban leadership and sustainability. Using the “city as classroom” pedagogy, Gordon partners with urban networks for curricular options in research, training, curriculum, and internship placement.Gordon IN Boston: In a world-class city universally trumpeted as the center of higher educational opportunity, we have established a program specifically geared to understanding the unique culture of Boston. Offering both single-course urban-themed options open to all Gordon students, as well as a semester-long immersion program for both Gordon and other partner schools, the program seeks to engage the city as a classroom in developing options for application of urban thought and experience.
While the primary focus of the program is to contextualize the study of any academic field to the urban environment, the program focuses specifically on the theme: The Sustainable City. The full-semester residential program for 12–15 students, rests on a series of “City Seminar” courses. These courses also attract students resident on the main campus.
