Art faculty members are professionals in each of their specialty areas. They are artists who teach the very media they practice, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and design.
- Faculty members exhibit their work nationally and internationally from New York and Boston to St. Petersburg, Russia and Florence, Italy.
- Their works reside in many national and international collections.
- Each is a member of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) and the College is a member of the College Art Association (CAA).

Tanja Butler is a painter interested in finding ways to create collaborative artwork within the context of community. Liturgical art, illustration, and community service projects are the focus of her artistic activity. She enjoys integrating service opportunities in her teaching. Students in her classes have created artwork in collaboration with area churches, the Gordon Chapel program, publishers, schools, service organizations and Gordon IN Lynn.
Her collection of 600 graphic images, Icon: Visual Images for Every Sunday, was published by Augsburg Fortress Publishers. Her work is represented in the Vatican Museum of Contemporary Art; the Billy Graham Center Museum at Wheaton, Illinois; the Portland (Maine) Museum of Art; the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts; and the Boston Public Library.

Jim Zingarelli has been teaching at Gordon since 1996. His primary work as an artist and teacher lies in the area of sculpture, notably stone carving, working in marble, granite and limestone. His current work deals with issues surrounding world hunger and he has traveled to Honduras, South Africa, and Morocco in an effort to create an art of public service within the global community. He exhibits his sculpture and paintings in several venues. His work is represented by the Pepper Gallery in Boston.
Bruce Herman

Bruce Herman joined the faculty in 1984 and became the first chair of the Art Department in 1988. His primary focus as a teacher and artist is figurative painting. He received the Junior Distinguished Faculty Award in 1992 and was awarded the first fully-endowed Distinguished Chair at Gordon in 2006. His art has been exhibited internationally and is housed in museums such as the Vatican Museum in Rome, the Armand Hammer Collection in Los Angeles, and locally at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts.
