GEO Mission

A GLOBAL VISION
The mission of the Global Education Office (GEO) emphasizes community, personal transformation and the extension of on campus education. We support the aims of Gordon both theoretically and practically:

The Theoretical
The mission of the Global Education Office is as follows:

  • To Extend the institution's presence in global locations where you as a student can study in experimental settings that are difficult to reproduce in the campus curriculum.
  • To Support other programs of cross-cultural study that are in concert with the institutional mission and serve on-campus curricular objectives and help you form a globally-sensitive Christian worldview.
  • To Enhance the institution's global understanding through sponsoring short-term study options and by arranging lectures and conferences on campus that speak to our global responsibilities. The goal of these efforts is to foster a global Christian identity in each student.

The Practical
Gordon strives to develop off-campus programs that are designed to be communities of faith and intellect within the host community. They strive to provide intercultural, cross-generational, and ecumenical experiences that transform the mind and challenge prejudice and parochialism.

All of our off-campus study opportunities intentionally entend the campus to world areas where students are challenged not only to develop academic competencies unavailable on campus, but also to engage and impact the host community in a positive and Christlike manner.

In addition, the campus community in Wenham must be regularly encouraged to think about , study and comprehend world issues and affairs from other than American values and perspectives. To that end, numerous initiatives have been instituted to broaden the focus of curriculum and to raise the level of conversation about world issues on the Wenham campus.
