Starting in June 2010, Gordon College has partnered with a local faith-based development organization called Partners in Development (PID). Through this partnership Gordon students are able to experience Haitian culture and work with those who are taking action to bring hope and prosperity to the nation of Haiti.
Serving over 33,000 patients in 20 years, PID's clinic in Haiti has been quite a success. However, not only does PID consist of a free medical clinic, but a housing development program, child sponsorships, and small business loan program as well. This holistic approach to ministry is what creates PID's sustainable success in Haiti and students who travel to Haiti will get to experience working in a developmental program, furthering their understanding of the intricacies that go into running such a program.
We are so excited to be able to partner with PID once again by traveling to Haiti in January 2013. Students who travel to Haiti in January will work alongside Haitian masons once again by building houses for the community as well as completing various work projects at multiple construction sites. This is done all while building relationships with local Haitians, learning the local culture and living in community with each other. This is a phenomenal experience as you engage in a new culture and see God's work first hand.
