Program Director
The director of the Gordon IN Aix program is Madame Magali Coates, a native of southern France, fluent as well in English. She earned her Master’s degree in Anglo-American Studies (Literature, History, Linguistics) at Aix-Marseille University in Aix-en-Provence, and has taught English in various settings at Aix-Marseille University, the Institute for Political Studies (IEP), Aix-en-Provence and elsewhere.
Madame Coates works part-time as an administrative assistant in the International Relations department of the Institute for Political Studies, providing student support for study abroad programmes. (Her English-born-and-educated husband David Coates oversees the Institute’s Study Abroad Programmes.)
Mme Coates and her husband David have long been leaders in the local evangelical Christian community, leading educational programs for students and young couples, overseeing the Alpha Course and Marriage Course, and translating materials for these courses from English into French.
Teachers
Courses taken at the Institut d'études de français pour étudiants étrangers (IEFEE) or the Institut d'études politiques (IEP) are taught by the faculty of those institutions.
Courses designed specifically for the Gordon IN Aix program are taught by faculty from the John Calvin Seminary, including Pierre Berthoud, Professor Emeritus of Old Testament and Apologetics at the Free Reformed Seminary (now Faculté Jean Calvin) in Aix-en-Provence. He has been President of the Fellowship of European Evangelical Theologians since 2008, and is a member of the Board of World Reformed Fellowship.
