Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts provides comprehensive medical insurance through their HMO Blue New England Premier Value plan and an extensive physician and hospital network throughout New England. The plan includes preventative care, prescription drugs (including mail-order), bi-annual vision exams, world-wide emergency and urgent care, chiropractic care, and fitness benefits. There is a $1,000 deductible per person per year ($2,500/ family) for in-patient care (see "HRA" below). For fulltime employees, the College contributes 78% of the premium for either an individual or family plan. The employee contribution is pre-tax, saving on Federal, State and FICA taxes.

HRA - (Health Reimbursement Arrangement)
Gordon College will automatically enroll all members of the HMO Blue New England Premier Value plan into the Gordon College HRA plan administered by HRC Total Solutions of Manchester, NH. This plan will reimburse 50% of the cost of any in-patient deductible.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts provides comprehensive dental insurance through their Dental Blue plan and their extensive network of dentist. The plan covers 100% of preventive dental expenses, 100% of basic restorative work after a $50 deduction and 50% of major restorative dental expenses. The maximum benefit is $1,000 per person per calendar year with a rollover feature for usage of less than half the limit. For fulltime employees, the college contributes 50% of the premium for either an individual or family plan. (see Rate Schedule above under Group Medical.)

Group Term Life Insurance (GTL) plus Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
Lincoln Financial Group provides Group Term Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance to full time Gordon College employees. Coverage is for a multiple of earnings based on age. (See Employee Handbook for details). For death, the AD&D coverage is an additional payment of the GTL amount. There is no cost for this benefit, however for GTL coverage over $50,000 there is a modest tax implication. For initial enrollment for both coverages, print out and complete the Enrollment Form and return it to Human Resources. Likewise, if you want to change beneficiary, just complete the Beneficiary Change form and return that to HR.

Supplemental Life Insurance
For employees wanting additional life insurance coverage above that provided by the college, as well as possibly spousal and/or child coverage, Gordon College makes available an employee paid, low cost option through The Hartford. Eligibility is upon hire or during the annual enrollment in November. Employees not signing up on hire or exceeding the guaranteed coverage of $125,000 will need to complete a medical history form.

Long Term Disability Insurance
Gordon College automatically enrolls all fulltime employees in long term disability coverage insured by The Hartford. After six months of sick pay, an employee still unable to work due to injury or illness will receive 60% of their base pay from The Hartford for the length of their disability or until age 65. There are no cost or tax implications with this coverage.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Fulltime employees (working over 25 hours/week or more), are eligible to enroll in a medical care and/or dependent care flexible spending account on hire or during the open enrollment period in November. The accounts are funded by the employee's pre-tax contributions, saving up to 30% on net pay. Our outside vendor for this benefit, HRC Total Solutions, provides members with a Visa Card for payment of eligible expenses.
