Pre-optometry

Common majors: biology, physics

There’s more than meets the eye. Optometrists improve visual and overall eye health—but because the eye can be a lens to what’s happening in the brain and throughout the body, optometrists can also be on the front lines of diagnosing larger issues. The pre-optometry track prepares you for entry into a two-year accelerated Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) program. Invasive procedures, like corneal transplants or LASIK, require an M.D. in ophthalmology.
