Preoptometry

Optometry is one way to get a doctoral degree in two years in an accelerated program. Do you like physics? This is one area of medicine where you can get really instant results and really be like Jesus in helping the blind to see. One optometrist I know once diagnosed a brain tumor based on the visual symptoms he observed. He then referred his ever-grateful patient to the appropriate specialist. As the person who many people go to for glasses, you can be on the front lines in noticing such symptoms.

To do invasive procedures such as corneal transplants, or LASIK, you would need to be an ophtalmologist, which is a specialty within M.D. degree.   -CS
