COURSE OF STUDY IN AIX
After a day or two of rest for recuperation from jet lag and orientation to the environment, students register at the Institut d'Études Françaises pour Étudiants Étrangers and take a placement test. That placement test will determine the course options available to the student.
A typical French semester might consist of:
Cour du Langue--12hrs
Phonétique--2hrs
Traduction--2hrs
L'Europe (histoire)--2hrs
Photographie et Litterature--2hrs
The Institut and the professors have absolute authority over the courses and the exams. The students are responsible for understanding and following the requirements noted in the Catalog or announced by the professor.
ATTENDANCE
Class attendance, participation in program lectures and other special events is required. Early departure or late return from vacation must be approved by the director and permission granted by the professor. Extended travel should occur prior to the start of the program, during breaks, or at the end of the program.
FRENCH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
A series of public lectures is offered once a month at the Seminary on topics related to Christianity and culture, theology and contemporary issues. A guided tour of Aix en Provence is provided by one of the professors from the Institut and by the Office de Tourisme.
Class attendance at the Institute is expected and participation in all special program lectures is required.
