Participants in the Aix program receive room and board either in local home-stays or with the residential community of students at the John Calvin Seminary. The two settings offer different overall environments for learning and practicing French and experiencing different aspects of French culture, and the GEO makes an effort to match students’ lodgings with their social and academic interests, proficiency level in French language, and personality.
The Program Director assists students' involvement in the social, cultural and religious life of Aix-en-Provence, facilitating a variety of opportunities for service in local churches and outreach to the region’s ethnically diverse population. A rich program of music, theater and visual art is readily available in Aix, as are opportunities for enjoying the natural beauty and historic richness of the surrounding Provençal region.
