While transfers have already experienced the challenge of at least one college transition, adjusting to a new home takes more than simply showing up the day before classes begin. Thus, Gordon's Transfer Orientation program seeks to address the transitional needs of a new student while accounting for the past experiences of a former collegian.
While they participate in many Orientation events along with freshmen, transfers are also placed in their own O-Crews and have a transfer-specific Boston Day (among other things). Check out the Transfer Orientation schedule below to learn more:
Friday, August 23, 2012—Move-In Day
- 10–11:30 a.m.—Check-in for students residing outside New England
- 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.—Check-in for students residing in New England
- 5 p.m.—Welcome dinner & meet your Orientation CREW
- 7:30 p.m.—Residence Hall Welcome (students, by hall), Commuter Student Welcome
- 7:30 p.m.—Parent's program with President and Mrs. Lindsay (followed by Dessert Reception)
Saturday, August 24—Orientation Opening Program
- 9 a.m.—Family Forum
- 9:30 a.m.—Campus Connections open
- 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m.—Various sessions for parents & students
- 4:45 p.m.—Parents depart campus
- 5:30 p.m.—Orientation opening program
- 6 p.m.—Transfer CREW activity night
Sunday, August 25—Boston/Urban Programs Orientation
- 10 a.m.—Brunch with CREW
- 12–6 p.m.—Explore Boston
- 6 p.m.—Church
- 8 p.m.—Boston Day After-party
Monday, August 26—Academic Orientation
- 9 a.m.–12 p.m.—Breakout sessions (transfers only)
- 1 p.m.—North Shore Exploration
- 7:30 p.m.—Free time
Tuesday, August 27—Student Life Orientation
- 9 a.m.–12 p.m.—"Gordon 101"—vital information for your success in the Gordon community
- 12 p.m.—GCSA Luncheon
- 1–5 p.m.—Electives/workshops
- 5 p.m.—All-campus Block Party
- 8 p.m.—Orientation closing program
