August 2013 Orientation Schedule

The following calendar will give you an idea of what you and your family can expect during Orientation. This schedule is only a broad, general overview; events, dates, and times are subject to change. A detailed schedule will be given to every student when they check in for Orientation.

 
Friday, August 23, 2013 Move-In Day

• 10–11:30 a.m.—Check-in for students residing outside New England
• 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.—Check-in for students residing in New England
• 4 p.m.—Reception for athletes and their families
• 5 p.m.—Welcome dinner & meet your Orientation CREW
• 7:30 p.m.—Residence Hall Welcome (students, by hall), Commuter Student Welcome
• 6:30 p.m.—Parents’ Program with President and Mrs. Lindsay and Dessert Reception

Saturday, August 24 Orientation Opening Program

• 9 a.m.—Campus Connections open
• 10 a.m.—Family Forum
• 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m.—Various sessions for parents & students
• 4:45 p.m.—Parents depart campus
• 5:30 p.m.—Orientation opening program
• 6 p.m.—CREW activity night

Sunday, August 25  Boston/Urban Programs Orientation

• 9 a.m.—Breakfast with CREW
• 12–8 p.m.—CREW trip to Boston, including urban worship service
• 8 p.m.—Boston Day After-party

Monday, August 26 Academic Orientation

• 9 a.m.—Introduction to the Academic Endeavor
• 10 a.m.–12 p.m.—Departmental meetings and academic advising and "Success Tools" sessions
• 1 p.m.—Course registration and "Success Tools" sessions
• 7 p.m.—Faculty-Staff desserts

Tuesday, August 27 Student Life Orientation

• 9 a.m.–12 p.m.—"Gordon 101"—vital information for your success in the Gordon community
• 12 p.m.—Lunch with CREW
• 12–7:30 p.m.—Music auditions
• 1–5 p.m.—Electives/workshops
• 5 p.m.—All-campus Block Party and Student Employment Fair
• 8 p.m.—Orientation closing program
