NYCAMS—New York Center for Art and Media Studies—is a faith-based artist and writing residency program that offers pariticipants the opportunity to live, create, and interact in one of the cutting edge cultural capitals of the world, New York City.
Students in the program live in apartments at Packard Square, a residential building in Long Island City. Bordering Midtown Manhattan and just one subway stop into Queens on the N/Q/7 line, the apartments are located near the historic Queensboro Bridge and Courthouse Square, and within walking distance of the P.S.1. Contemporary Art Center and numerous artist studios. Each apartment is equipped with WiFi access, furniture, a designer kitchen and basic kitchen amenities, a shared bedroom, standard sized beds and dressers, bedroom and living room closets, and a balcony.
Students provide their own bedding and towels, personal amenities, cleaning products, food, and other items they deem necessary for a semester in New York.
There are two program options for applicants:
Being in the heart of Manhattan gives students access to hundreds of museums and galleries, inspiring them to regularly interact with art. Course content changes each semester to include current exhibitions and events in New York keeping students on the cutting edge of the art world.
All Gordon students who wish to apply for NYCAMS must first submit an online seat application (link available to Gordon students only) to participate in a Global Education program. Only after you have been approved by the Global Education Office for study abroad, may you proceed with NYCAMS's online application.
Seat applications for the fall semester must be submitted online by March 15. Interviews with the Global Education Office (with Dr. Cliff Hersey) must be conducted by by the same date.

Students will be charged basic term expenses (excepting board) as indicated in the academic catalogue. Students may apply internal scholarships to the cost of the program. Students must consult with their financial aid counsellor in Student Financial Services to review their aid package.
