Michelle Buettner is a sophomore business and finance double major from Danvers, MA. She is passionate about various leadership and management strategies, and about optimizing efficiency while maintaining a creative and supportive culture within the workplace. This passion led her to participate in Elevate, Gordon's leadership lab for exceptional high school juniors and seniors, as a high school student. Michelle returned to Elevate last summer as a peer mentor. At Gordon, Michelle is an A. J. Gordon Scholar and a Forrester Venture Fellow. As a Forrester Venture Fellow, Michelle had the chance to travel to Silicon Valley and meet with founders, CEOs, and employees of various startups ranging from Google and Facebook to Box and Pocket. Michelle is also a student ambassador at Gordon on the Community Engagement Committee.
Annika Hellweg is a sophomore A. J. Gordon Scholar from Burnsville, MN, pursuing a double major in international affairs and political science. Passionate about pursuing justice for the helpless through politics, she has a pre-law minor and is a participant in Gordon’s Model UN club. Annika's passion to help the oppressed has led her to travel to Peru and to Brazil, where she spent one month as a student leader for several missions trips throughout the south of the country. It has also led her to intern in Gordon’s Office for Service Learning, where she takes students to Lynn, MA on several nights each week to serve Lynn's refugee population by teaching English and GED classes. Additionally, Annika is involved in the Student Academic Affairs Committee at Gordon and is a member of the 2016–2017 cohort of the Jerusalem and Athens Forum.
Antonio Vargas is a sophomore Clarendon Scholar from New London, CT, studying business administration with a concentration in marketing and a double minor in Biblical studies and pastoral ministry. He served as a National Representative for SkillsUSA, a non-profit organization that partners students, teachers and industry workers to work together to ensure that America has a skilled workforce through soft and hard skills. Antonio currently serves as the program director for One Body; as a Gordon College student ambassador; as a resident advisor in Ferrin Hall, and as a Launch coordinator. When he's not working as the marketing and data intern at Elevate, Gordon's leadership lab for exception high school students, Antonio loves to laugh, hang out with friends, or enjoy the latest films out in theaters.
