Christian Citizenship Today

Through some joint readings and travel activities, the purpose of this trip is to explore the vocation of Christian citizenship today while exploring the nation’s capital, and to think more broadly about the role of politics and national identity in a faithful Christian life. Participants will read John Howard Yoder's The Politics of Jesus and Jean Bethke Elshtain's Augustine and the Limits of Politics, and will visit popular sites, like the Smithsonian Museums, Capitol Building, the Library of Congress, White House, and more. the trip will be led by Sarah and Andrew Carlson-Lier, program coordinators from the beginning of the program until 2009, and Kirstin Hasler (JAF alum and grad student at Notre Dame in politics).
