ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
As a private Christian college of the liberal arts and sciences, Gordon College seeks students who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. A successful application for admission to Gordon gives evidence of strong academic promise and of a decision to follow Jesus Christ. GORDON'S FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION
Scholarships and grants range from a minimum of $1,000 per year to full tuition. Total cost for the 2008-09 academic year is estimated to be $36,500. This covers tuition and fees, room, board (meals), books, health insurance and miscellaneous personal expenses. It does not cover laboratory, music and other miscellaneous fees. See page 19-20 of the 2007-2008 Gordon College catalog (Acrobat Reader program needed to open file).
A Gordon education is a valuable investment worthy of hard work and sacrifice. Students are expected to draw upon every resource available to them--personal and family assets and income, and other sponsors--in financing their share of the cost. In an effort to reduce financial burden, Gordon awards merit-based scholarships to deserving students. Scholarships awarded are renewable each year as long as grade point average (GPA) requirements are met for the specific scholarship offered. GPA requirements are determined by scholarship level awarded and range from a minimum of 3.0 to 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. (For those who are unfamiliar with the GPA requirements, we want to assure you that applicants will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. A student's academic performance will be viewed according to standing in their respective class.) For example, Dean's Scholars are awarded $8,000 based on SAT 1 result (1800 combined minimum score), academic performance and strength of overall application. The scholarship is renewed annually contingent upon a minimum cumulative Gordon GPA of 3.25.
For international students who do not take the SAT, but opt to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), scholarships will be determined by TOEFL score and strength of academic performance as evidenced in student's academic records and overall application. In addition to academic scholarships, deserving international applicants are also eligible to receive Gordon College International Grants.

AFTER YOUR FIRST YEAR AT GORDON
Lastly, as you and your family plan for studying abroad, you must also consider that colleges and universities have increases in their total costs each year due to inflation and other factors. Gordon has maintained a minimal increase of approximately 5-6% each year for the past several years. You will be responsible for planning and covering that additional increase in cost since Gordon will be unable to increase your academic scholarship and international grant.
