Student Government at Gordon College

The Gordon College Student Association (GCSA) is a student-elected body that serves as a bridge between students and administration and meets weekly as a legislative forum, an executive cabinet, working councils, and appointed committees.

"We, the Student Body of Gordon College, establish this constitution for a student administrative and representative body to be known as the Gordon College Student Association (GCSA). The GCSA shall endeavor to honor the Lord our God and serve the community of Gordon College by enhancing the lives of students academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. By the authority given to it by the students and the administration of the College, the GCSA shall hereby be the official, representative voice of the students to the administration, faculty, staff, and trustees of the College, and to outside concerns; and the overseeing administration for all student organizations chartered by the GCSA." — GCSA Constitution Preamble

The GSA works to:

  • Represent the student body to the administration, faculty, staff, and outside concerns
  • Administer, fund, and evaluate student clubs and organizations
  • Provide support and advocacy for student interests
  • Organize or endorse student publications:
    • Idiom, an art and poetry journal
    • The VOX, a newsletter of student voices

THE LINES OF COMMUNICATION
The GCSA works to bring about changes desired by the student community. The GCSA has initiated a variety of ways for students and the rest of the Gordon College community to communicate. They include student town hall meetings, designated Chapels, appointment of students to various academic and administrative committees, and a network of Representatives-at-Large and other officers who interact with  students all over campus to discuss their concerns. Visitors are always welcome at the GCSA office on the lower level of Lane Student Center. Hours are posted on the door and on the GCSA campus website.
