WHO USES THE LAB?
Graphic Design and Media Production students. It is also available on a case-by-case basis to Art, Communication arts and Theatre arts students.
The lab can not be used for personal profit. Examples include:
- getting paid to film and edit a friend's wedding video
- creating and getting paid for a brochure for a friend's business
- creating and getting paid for web design and creation
WHERE IS THE LAB?
BCA 228 is located in Barrington Center for the Arts, 2nd floor, at the top of the stairs.
HARDWARE
- 13 computer stations new iMacs
- 2 Image Scanners (for documents, negatives, and slides)
- CD/DVD Burners in each computer
- 1 Color Inkjet Printer
- 1 Laser print for black/white
- Video projector and screen for demonstrations
SOFTWARE
- Mac OS X
- Final Cut Express
- Final Cut Pro (on 2 computers)
- Adobe Photoshop CS
- Adobe Illustrator CS
- Adobe InDesign CS
VIDEO EDITING EQUIPMENT
- TV/VCR units at 12 of the 13 stations
- 3 image converters, to be used when capturing video from a VHS tape
- Power strips at each station for additional hardware (cameras, harddrives...)
- Headphones
THE SOUND ROOM
- contains a Power Mac G4, with both OS 9 and X
- Software includes Digidesign 001 box and ProTools
- a mixer, speakers, and microphones available for various audio projects
MEDIA EQUIPMENT
- 6 GL-1 Canon Digital Video Cameras
- 1 GL-2 Canon Digital Video Camera
- 7 Tripods for DV Cameras
- 5 Boom Mic Kits
- 5 Various Light Kits
