A Faculty Recital: Michael Monroe
09.15.2012 - Saturday
Phillips Music Center - Phillips Recital Hall

7 p.m.
To open the Music Department's fall season, pianist Michael Monroe presents a faculty recital. The program will feature a surpassingly lovely Bach allemande, Chopin's angst-ridden Ballade #4, and Brahms' monumental "Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel." On the second half, Michael will be joined by his violinist daughter Susanna and cellist wife Karen for Dvorak's "Dumky" Trio, a unique work that alternates brooding Slavic laments with wildly manic folk dances.
