CIVASummer Workshops at Gordon College
Christians in the Visual Arts hosts weeklong workshops at Gordon College each summer. These workshops allow artists the opportunity to work intensively in a specific format, medium, or technique under the direction of a master artist. The studio spaces in the Department of Art, housed in Gordon College's Barrington Center for the Arts, allow for a concentrated work experience in equipment intensive media such as computer-based/aided imaging, sculpting, photography, and printmaking. Pairing faith and art in a practical way, working in this fairly cloistered setting not only allows for intense focus in a given medium, but time to meditate on the intersection of art and faith. Mornings begin with the workshop community joining together to consider meditations on art, creativity, and spiritual life. This is a time of reflection, prayer, discussion, and inspiration and the studios stay open late into the night for further creative work.
