College Bound Interns 2012-2013
College Bound—K–2 in Lynn
Philip is a junior psychology major from Waltham, Massachusetts. This will be his third year working for College Bound, and his second year as an intern. Over the years he has been able to build meaningful relationships with all of the children in the program. Perhaps he has built the strongest relationships with children who, like him, have grown up in homes with single moms. He finds that this common life experience has been powerful in allowing for trust between him and several of the kids. This year, Philip is excited to create a sense of community among his tutors and to provide fun new activities for his College Bound kids (community gardens, anyone?)! In his free time Philip enjoys writing music, trail running and reading.

Julie is a junior from West Hartford, Connecticut studying psychology and Christian ministries. Her favorite thing is to spend time with her family going hiking, antiquing and watching old movies. Julie has worked as a College Bound tutor for the past two years. While she has loved working with the same few kids for the majority of this time, she is now excited to work a little more with everyone as an intern in the program. Having had the opportunity to be a part of College Bound already, Julie is looking forward to the continued privilege it will be to serve such a great group of kids and the community of Curwin Circle.
