BISTRO TWO FIFTY-FIVE
Gordon's newest dining option opens to rave reviews
WENHAM, MA—As the summer season began to unwind, it seemed that campus changes and renovations could be found around every corner of Gordon's campus. Since the start of the fall term the campus community has expressed much excitement about the many updates, but one capital improvement in particular is causing students (and even alumni) to celebrate—a new dining venue in Jenks named Bistro Two Fifty-Five. Though it opened with a soft launch the day before classes started, an official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, at the entrance to the space and in the adjacent Jenks Reference Room.
Bistro Two Fifty-Five is the newest of five student-dining options across campus that also include the Lane Dining Commons, Gillies Cafe in lower Lane, and Chester's Place—a cafe built to replicate an traditional 18th-century English tavern.
Wednesday's grand opening will include music by the acoustic group The Cub Scouts; remarks on the Bistro's fruition; and a ribbon cutting with Gordon College President D. Michael Lindsay, student body president Branden Figueroa '14, and alumnus Ben Wright '13, an engineer at Raytheon and last year's student body president. Figueroa was among those who submitted a proposal to the President and Cabinet last year, and who helped create a vision for the new cafe.
Bistro Two Fifty-Five offers a grab-and-go menu that includes upscale salads, wraps and sandwiches. Its Starbucks-quality barista station is equipped with fair-trade coffee, a high-pressure steam purge for frothy cappuccinos and lattes, hot chocolate and an assortment of herbal teas. The bistro will sell muffins, scones, croissants and confections throughout the day.
The Bistro's name, a variation of Gordon's postal address at 255 Grapevine Road, was selected by the President's Cabinet from a number of submissions by the student body.
Hours of operation:
Monday–Friday: 7:45 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
Sundays: 6–11:30 p.m.
