Heart of Discovery: Biology Alumni Event
Took Place: Friday, November 17, 2006
Presidents Dining Room, Lane Student Center
Biology alumni from a wide range of years gathered in the Presidents Dining Room for dinner and a presentation. Many Gordon graduates traveled to campus to hear more about the Ken Olsen Science Center and three retired faculty--Jane Andrus, Bob Herrmann and Dick Wright--joined the gathering as well.
Sarah Childs, a current Biology major, spoke about her experiences at Gordon and called attention to the ways the Biology faculty teach creatively and mentor compassionately. Dr. Don Gonzales '95 articulated the ways Gordon prepared him for the study of medicine and his profession as a doctor.
Each alumnus/a shared where he or she is living and working, and many memorable stories were heard. All Gordon science majors are aware of the great need for new science facilities and Biology graduates share a collective excitement about the Ken Olsen Science Center. Many alumni are considering how they can bless future generations of Gordon Biology majors by contributing to the Heart of Discovery campaign.
Enjoy some snapshots of the evening. Stay tuned for additional events for other science majors in 2007!
