Vice President for Student Life
Barry Loy is Gordon College’s vice president for student life, a role that includes leadership within numerous departments and programs, including Residence Life, Counseling, Career Services, Gordon in Lynn, LaVida Center for Outdoor Education, Recreation Intramurals, and the Bennett Center. He also oversees international and urban student programs, and the Health Center.
Barry Loy attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he earned a B.A. in psychology and recreation administration in 1975. From UNC, Loy received missions training with International Teams and served in Eastern Europe before completing his M.A. in counseling from Wheaton College in 1978. He has worked in higher education leadership ever since, serving first at Calvin College, and then at Covenant College beginning in 1980. He was Director of Counseling at Covenant before eventually rising to the role of Dean of Students. Loy originally joined the staff at Gordon College as associate dean of students in 1985, and has been a member of the College community for 26 years since.
His wife, Donna, works in the Admissions Office. They have four children, three of whom attended Gordon College; their youngest studies at Westmont College, another CCCU school.
