WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HONORED BY THE COMMONWEALTH COAST CONFERENCE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., February 28, 2008 -- The Gordon College women's basketball team was honored by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with the Team Sportsmanship Award for the 2007-08 season as announced on Monday (Feb. 25) afternoon by league Commissioner Gregg Kaye.
The Fighting Scots were honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award as voted on by all 14 TCCC women's basketball coaches. A total of 11 of the 14 schools in the conference were represented on the All-Conference Teams and as major award winners including the Team Sportsmanship Award. Other major award recognition went to Regis College head coach Julie Plant as the Coach of the Year.
The Fighting Scots graduate just two seniors from the 2007-08 squad and return all five starters along with three key reserves in the 2008-09 campaign. Among key returners will be junior forward Erin Thames (River Vale, N.J.) who led the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game and rebounding with 8.6 per night.
