Fine Arts

Aside from their respective academic departments, the fine arts (visual, performing and musical) at Gordon offers you the chance to explore your creativity as well as take part in their larger community, on and off campus. The campus also hosts visiting artists, world class musicians and guest speakers who delight audiences with their talents and insights.

MUSIC
Apart from groups formed strictly for music majors, the Music Department has established various choirs and ensembles that non-majors, alumni, faculty and the larger community can take part in:

ART
The Barrington Center for the Arts includes two modern galleries used to exhibit works of professional and student artists. In addition, you will have discounted access with your student ID card to world class museums in the area including the Peabody Essex Museum in Peabody, MA and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA.

  • Senior Thesis Exhibition held each year in the Barrington galleries
  • Located on Gordon's campus is Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), the premier national visual arts organization connecting the artist, the Church and the culture.

THEATRE ARTS
Auditions for the theatre season are open to the entire student body.  Collaborate on productions that stretch the minds of participants and audience. Guest artists from around the country are often assist with design elements of production, including costume, scenic, sound and lighting.

  • Holiday - World premiere comedy by Gordon alum and professor, Jon Busch
  • Tarantara! Tarantara! - A musical comedy chronicling the lives and times of Gilbert and Sullivan
  • SueƱo - A renowned Spanish drama adapted by Jose Rivera
  • A Night of Pinter - Short works of Pulitzer Prize winner, Harold Pinter

OTHER PERFORMING ARTS
Students may also audition for roles in ongoing productions:

  • Dance Team - a popular and energetic student club that performs at sporting events
  • History Alive! - Gordon's professional acting troupe
  • REACH drama group - engages and challenges teenagers in their faith through drama
  • Sweaty-Toothed Madmen - an improv sketch comedy team
