Graduate Education Announces Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) and New Tuition Rates

WENHAM, MA— In today’s economic climate, choosing a graduate school can be challenging. Gordon College’s graduate education program is making this decision easier by offering new affordable tuition rates and a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Leadership and Reading.  

Gordon has decreased tuition by $300 for three-credit courses within its graduate education program to encourage career changers and teachers to pursue their Master of Education (M.Ed.), Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.), CAGS, or licensure. The newly added CAGS offers educational practitioners the opportunity to pursue a post-master’s course of study to make themselves more marketable and enhance their ability to be leaders in educational reform, without the formal commitment and examination of a doctoral program. The course sessions (some of which begin June 20) continue throughout the summer, and enrollment is still open.

“Our graduates tell us that our easy location, close personal attention and flexible schedule enabled them to earn their degrees more quickly than they imagined,” said Janet Arndt, director of graduate education and licensure. “We believe by reducing tuition and offering the CAGS we can make the Gordon opportunity available to all career changers and teachers in the North Shore area.”

New students have four opportunities throughout the year to start their licensure, CAGS, M.Ed., or M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Educational Leadership, English as a Second Language, Middle School Education, Moderate Disabilities, Montessori Education, or Reading.

Gordon also offers courses for Professional Development Points (PDPs) throughout the year. Friday night/Saturday courses as well as once-a-week night courses, and observance of Massachusetts’s public school vacations fit the busy schedules of adult students.

“I have become a more compassionate person and teacher as a result of M.A.T in English as a Second Language at Gordon,” said Mary Stormon-Flynn, graduate student. “Teaching strategies I’ve learned and used have become invaluable in my classroom. With more stimulating lessons, objectives and activities for my students, I believe they are more engaged, more productive, and more fulfilled."
