Wenham, MA—As the 2009-2010 academic year comes to a close, Gordon College will congratulate several employees who have worked at the college 25 years or more.

These ten faculty and staff members—along with others who have marked five to twenty year milestones—will be recognized at Gordon’s Annual Service Awards reception on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 3–4:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Chairman’s Room and Loggia of the Ken Olsen Science Center of Gordon College, 255 Grapevine Road (Exit 17 from Route 128 North).

Gordon will honor faculty and staff from across departments and the North Shore. For instance, this year marks 45 years of preparing meals for David Black of Rockport. Black was the first cook in the dining hall, and has been dedicated to cooking meals for students for over four decades.

Employees of 30 years include:
    Bridget Acciavatti, staff member for the dining services, of Beverly;
    Russell Bjork, professor of computer science, of Beverly;
    Kimberlie Mather, controller, of Brentwood;
    Janet Potts, assistant registrar and graduation coordinator, of Ipswich;
    Judith Spates, administrative assistant, of Danvers;
    Richard Stout, professor of mathematics, of Ipswich.

Employees of 25 years include:
    Robert Grinnell, vice president for development, of South Hamilton;
    Norman Jones, associate professor of theatre arts, of Salem;
    Irvin Levy, professor of chemistry and computer science, of Hamilton;
    Barry Loy, vice president for student development and dean of students, of Essex.

“Gordon is fortunate to have many long-term employees on the faculty and staff,” said Nancy G. Anderson, director of human resources. “We all benefit from their institutional memory and sustained commitment to our shared values and mission.”
