WENHAM, MA--Most college admissions directors don’t come to their work by way of Hollywood. But for Brook Berry, Gordon College’s newly appointed vice president of enrollment and marketing, it’s been a natural progression in developing his creative gifts.

Berry worked for several years as a writer, producer, executive and marketer in the film and television industry in Los Angeles, serving clients such as NBC Universal, Columbia Pictures and Disney. He did promotional work for many television shows including Law and Order, The West Wing and Dateline NBC as well as for films such as Jumanji, Sense and Sensibility, Little Women and Legends of the Fall.

In 2004 he took his experiences to higher education when he was appointed vice president of marketing and enrollment at Northwestern College in Minnesota. Berry, who has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in creative writing from Boston University, also taught courses at Northwestern, Bethel University and Boston University.

“Brook brings a great enthusiasm for the mission of Gordon and an obvious expertise in reaching young people in our culture,” said Gordon College Provost Mark Sargent. “He has a rich understanding of enrollment challenges, trends and opportunities for Christian higher education, and broad experience with marketing in highly competitive settings.”

Berry, who joined the administrative team July 1, will provide oversight and leadership to the Admissions Department as well as the Office of College Communications. His son will also start at Gordon as a first-year student in the fall.

“With so many great programs and people at Gordon, I’m excited to be a part of this good work,” said Berry. “Between the location of the campus, the outstanding liberal arts education and the unique Christ-centered core emphasis, it’s a privilege for me to join the community here and to help communicate the many great opportunities Gordon College offers young people.”
