Summer Sports Fun: Gordon College Offers Variety of Athletic Camps for Children All Ages

WENHAM, MA--Some parents might not think to send their children to college when the school year ends, but with award-winning college coaches, Gordon College’s summer athletic camps are a wise and affordable way to spend part of summer vacation. Whether it is basketball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse or swimming, Gordon athletic campers receive directed instruction and learn new drills and games to increase their level of play.
 
“Gordon Summer Athletic Camps are a great way for kids to learn new skills and receive quality instruction in a fun, enthusiastic environment,” said Bess Watson, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, Interim Summer Camp Director. “The staff, from head coaches down to current college players, are helpful in offering the best experience possible for every camper, from those just beginning to the more advanced. Our goal is to provide a quality learning opportunity for all involved.”

Gordon College’s summer sports camps include daily lunch, swim breaks, and t-shirts. Campers should bring shoes and gear appropriate to the sport as well as swimsuits and towels. All camps run from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. The 2009 Gordon Athletic Camp schedule is:
     Girls Basketball: July 13-17 (ages 8-12) and July 20-24 (ages 12-18)
     Boys Basketball: July 27-31 and August 3-7 (ages 7-14)
     Girls Soccer: July 20-July 24 (ages 8-17) Tuition for this camp includes a ball.
     Boys Soccer: July 13-July 17 (ages 7-14) Tuition for this camp includes a ball.
     Girls Field Hockey: August 10-August 14 (ages 9-16)
     Boys Lacrosse: August 3-August 7 (ages 8-15)
     Co-ed Technical Swim Camp: August 10-14 (boys and girls ages 8-14)
     Swim Lessons: June 22-August 6 (boys and girls, all ages) TBD

Tuition for all week long sports camps is $250 and includes daily lunch, camp T-shirt and supervised swim breaks. Water and ice will be provided, but campers are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. Half-day tuition is also available for the swimming program at a cost of $125. Deposit and camp registration is due two weeks prior to the camp start date and full payment is due by the first day of camp.

Gordon College also offers swim lessons at the Bennett Center for the local community. Cost of the lessons are $125 for a two-day a week lesson and $80 for a Saturday only lesson. Registration begins Monday, June 15th and closes Saturday, June 20th.
