WENHAM, MA-On Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m., the Gordon College Symphony Orchestra will perform their first concert of the fall season, entirely for free. With ticket prices normally around $10 for general admissions, the ensemble--led by Grammy-nominated violinist James Buswell and cellist Carol Ou--will offer this program solely for the enjoyment of their patrons.

"We decided to offer the concert free of charge as a gift to the surrounding community," says Undergraduate Music Coordinator Keith Gruen. "We know times are tough financially and we want to give a gesture of thanks to our supportive patrons."

The program will include Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Brahms' Violin Concerto featuring a solo violinist performance by Buswell, and the Gliere Horn Concerto.

Active as a violin soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, conductor and educator, Buswell is one of the most versatile musicians performing today. In all of these capacities he elicits the highest praise from audiences, critics and fellow musicians alike. He has appeared with virtually all of the major orchestras in the United States and Canada as well as with orchestras in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America, and has collaborated with such distinguished conductors as Michael Tilson Thomas, Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez, Andre Previn, Erich Leinsdorf, Zubin Mehta, George Szell and Leonard Bernstein.
