WENHAM, MA - Creating art and traveling are more than hobbies for Bryn Gillette, '02. His latest work, 105 Glimpses of Haiti, is a 105-piece collection of oil paintings, watercolors, and photography to celebrate and raise funds for orphans in Haiti. The exhibit in the Jenks Library Mezzanine at Gordon College opens Homecoming Weekend, October 11 and runs through November 15 with a reception on Saturday, October 11, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

"These 105 images were inspired by my first two visits to Haiti in 2008," Gillette said. "I went to experience firsthand the work of Daniel Jean, who has taken over 100 orphans into his Homes of Blessing in the last seven years."

Gillette, who graduated summa cum laude in visual arts with a minor in biblical studies, considers his work part of a vision he has for stewardship. Glimpses is comprised of a combination of 60 oils, 10 watercolors and 35 photos, each piece representing an individual child from the two different Homes of Blessing in Haiti. The pieces were created over Gillette's two trips in January and May of 2008. All of the profits from the sale of Gillette's oils, as well as half of the rest of the sales, will go to organizations in Haiti.

"Our goal is to bless Westerners with the testimonies and radical generosity and faith of our brothers and sisters in Haiti," Gillette said, "and in turn bless them with the material resources they need by giving financial assistance."

Both the exhibit 105 Glimpses of Haiti and the Saturday, October 11 reception at 5:30 are free and open to the public.
