WENHAM, MA-The Boston Printmakers, known to showcase some of the most prestigious and eclectic printmaking in the world, is coming to Gordon College as part of a special yearlong traveling exhibit that celebrates their 60th anniversary. The exhibit, Field Report, will be on display at the College March 8 - April 15 in the Gallery of the Barrington Center for the Arts.

The Boston Printmakers were founded by a small group of students and faculty from the Boston Museum School and the Massachusetts College of Art in 1947. Their first exhibit featured a variety of contemporary printmaking forms for that time period, including etchings and drypoints, lino cuts, engravings, lithographs, woodcuts, wood-engravings, and the newly popular serigraph which is a silkscreen process. From 1954 to 1969 the Boston Printmakers exhibits were on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Over the years, other hosts have included the Hayden Gallery at MIT, the Rose Art Museum, the Duxbury Art Complex Museum, the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Danforth Museum, Boston University, the Art Institute of Boston, and the DeCordova Museum.

"We are honored to host the inaugural installation of the Boston Printmakers Field Report, and to be in the tradition of venues such as Boston University and M.I.T. in hosting this event," said Bruce Herman, Gallery Director for the Barrington Center for the Arts Gordon. "We look forward to living with this intensely varied exhibit and using it as a teaching tool with our students in drawing and printmaking courses. We also hope that the nearby and Boston arts community will visit and enjoy the show."

The Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the exhibit is open to the community free of charge. A special opening reception will take place on Saturday, March 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information on Field Report or the Boston Printmakers, please contact Jessica Prudhomme at 914.522.6724 or email .
