"Dr. Gibson is by far the most knowledgeable living person on A. J. Gordon and is widely regarded as a leading scholar on the subject," says John Beauregard, professor emeritus of Bibliography and archivist at Gordon College.

In 1889, A. J. Gordon founded Gordon College, in Boston, as a missionary training institute. He was the author of several hymns, many of which are still sung today. Those include "My Jesus, I Love Thee", "Cast All Thy Care" and "He Shall Reign From Sea to Sea." A. J. Gordon also wrote many books including: In Christ, The Two-Fold Life, The Ministry of the Spirit, How Christ Came to Church, and many others. He also published a well-read monthly devotional entitled Watchword.

"A. J. Gordon changed my life, the way I think, the way I do ministry, the way I pastor," said Gibson during a recent lecture.

Dr. Gibson is a native of New Castle, Pennsylvania. He attended the Pennsylvania State University where he majored in education. After completing the Master of Divinity degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Gibson continued his studies at Princeton Theological Seminary where he was awarded the Master of Theology degree (homiletics), the University of Toronto where he earned a master's degree (church history), and the University of Oxford where he engaged in doctoral studies (church history), concentrating on the life and work of A. J. Gordon which culminated in his doctoral work, A. J. Gordon: American Premillennialist. This was published and copyrighted 2001 by University Press of America, Inc.

An ordained American Baptist minister, Dr. Gibson has pastored American Baptist churches, and is President of Cornerstone Church Network. He has authored or edited six books, including Preaching to a Shifting Culture and the soon to be released Preaching the Old Testament.

More on A. J. Gordon:
