WENHAM, MA-D. Michael Lindsay, celebrated author of Faith in the Halls of Power: How Evangelicals Joined the American Elite, will speak and give a book signing at Gordon on Monday, October 15, 2007, at 4:30 p.m. in the Presidents Dining Room located in the Lane Student Center. Faith in the Halls of Power has received critical acclaim, including recent honors from the International Leadership Association and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. According to Senator Bill Frist, M.D (R-TN), "Michael Lindsay's brilliant book has the story everyone else has missed. You must read this book." And Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, Editor-In-Chief, First Things, comments, "Michael Lindsay puts all of us into his debt with this thoughtful analysis of the rise of a new center of leadership in our public life." The Starred Review in Publishers Weekly noted "This important work should be required reading."

Lindsay, assistant professor of sociology and assistant director of the Center on Race, Religion and Urban Life at Rice University, specializes in issues surrounding leadership, religion, and culture. He has been recognized as one of the leading scholars of his generation, garnering the top award given by the International Sociological Association for sociologists under age 35.

Lindsay earned his Ph.D. in sociology at Princeton University, where he was named a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow in 2002 and the Harold W. Dodds Fellow in 2004. Lindsay has authored dozens of scholarly and popular essays, and his work has been covered in many media outlets including CNN, The New York Times, Time, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Houston Chronicle.
