WENHAM, MA-Gordon College is proud to announce that Apple Inc. has selected the Gordon podcast site to be featured on Apple's public iTunes Music store. As one of only 24 colleges and universities nationwide currently selected for this distinction, and one of only three colleges in Massachusetts, Gordon will be featured alongside schools such as MIT, Stanford, Duke and Yale. Gordon's iTunes U podcast site provides anyone with Internet access an opportunity to virtually experience selected campus activities-from visiting lecturers and music concerts, to student-produced video journals and sporting event coverage.

"Since the original launch of iTunes U in November 2006, Gordon has received many positive comments from parents, students and alumni," says June Bodoni, director of the Center for Technology Services at Gordon. "Alumni have enjoyed re-connecting with the College and listening in on chapel presentations or lectures, while prospective parents and students have gotten a chance to experience life at Gordon from afar. Current students also enjoy the flexibility of having access to College events on their iPods-educational content for a generation that is always connected and always on the go."

Visitors to Gordon's iTunes U can listen to selected podcasts or subscribe to an entire category of podcasts. The site features the categories listed below and will continue to include new podcasts as content becomes available. The College is also working with faculty to make selected course podcasts available in the future.

  • Seasonal Spotlight-Recent seasonal events from both on and off campus. The current spotlight includes profiles of artists participating in the Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) summer 2007 Workshops, which took place at Gordon; highlights from the 2007 Commencement and selections from "Growing Up Christian," the award-winning student written and produced ensemble production from the fall 2006 season.
  • Gordon Pulpit-Presentations at on-campus chapel and convocation services.
  • Campus Life-Selections from athletics, theatre, music and student productions.
  • Academics-Faculty presentations and readings.

The podcast initiative at Gordon was made possible by a grant from the Kendrick Foundation.
