Gordon College Symphonic Chorale to Host Community Auditions for 2007-08 Season

WENHAM, MA-Gordon College is pleased to announce open auditions for its Symphonic Chorale, a choral ensemble comprised of members of the local community, along with Gordon students, faculty, staff and alumni. Now in its fourth year, the Chorale will be led by new conductor Ellen Gilson Voth, who received her Doctorate of Musical Arts from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford and was recently appointed Assistant Professor of Music at Gordon College.

A gifted and committed leader, Voth says "the Symphonic Chorale is a wonderful vehicle for connecting the vitality of the Gordon music department with the many resources and talents among the North Shore community. I look forward to building those connections and joining Gordon in its commitment to integrating artistic excellence and expression of faith through choral music."

WHAT: Gordon College Symphonic Chorale community auditions for 2007-08 season

WHERE: Auditions will be held on Gordon's campus in the Phillips Music Center (office L110)

WHEN: Wednesday, August 22, 6:30-9:00 p.m.; Monday, August 27, 6:30-9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, August 30, 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday evenings 7:30-9:30 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, September 4. The upcoming 2007-08 season (September through May) will feature a repertoire that includes the Fauré Requiem with orchestra, along with other choral works.
