WENHAM, MA-The Music Department of Gordon College will host the "Summer Music Academy," a one-week daytime program designed to help fourth through ninth graders develop their talent as vocal and instrumental musicians. Students will participate in daily eurhythmics, music theory and music history classes, sound development, daily performances and other engaging activities in a fun atmosphere.

The weeklong academy is directed by Dr. Sandra Doneski, assistant professor of music at Gordon College and Justin Pittsley, program coordinator. Justin also serves as Director of Bands at Middleboro High School.

"The Summer Music Academy is an exciting program that provides young musicians with the opportunity to develop their skills and their musicality both as individuals and as part of a team," says Dr. Doneski. "We strive to encourage the whole musician--body, mind and spirit - so in addition to the music oriented classes, children can also climb on the Gordon Rock Wall, swim in the College pool and participate in various outdoor activities."

WHEN: Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29, 2007, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

WHERE: Phillips Music Center, Barrington Center for the Arts, Bennett Center and other locations to be announced, all at Gordon College, 255 Grapevine Road, Wenham, MA.

Admission for the "Summer Music Academy" is $295 per child. Limited scholarships are also available. Registration deadline is Monday, June 4, 2007.
