Gordon Provost Named Dellenback Fellow of The Council of Christian Colleges & Universities

WENHAM, MA-Gordon College Provost Dr. Mark L. Sargent, was recently appointed a Dellenback Fellow of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). Sargent was recognized for his years of distinguished service and leadership as a prominent academic administrator on the council and for his leadership in the development of Christian Higher Education abroad.

As a Dellenback Fellow, Sargent will travel to Lithuania Christian College (LCC), an affiliate institution of the CCCU, to aid in the development of Christian higher education abroad. He will be hosted by the LCC College president and chief academic officer, and will receive a stipend to cover travel to the site.

The Dellenback Fellowship is named in honor and memory of Dr. John R. Dellenback - former United States Congressman, Peace Corps Director, and President of the CCCU (1977-1988) - recognized for his significant international character and experience.

Founded in 1976 with 38 member institutions, the CCCU is an international higher education association of intentionally Christian colleges and universities, headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Today the CCCU has 105 members in North America with 77 affiliate institutions in 24 countries.

Sargent holds a Ph. D. in English, Nineteenth-Century American Literature, from The Claremont Graduate School. He began his service with Gordon College in 1996 as Provost and Professor of English. He resides in South Hamilton with his wife and children.
